You do excellent work with the camera you have and I'm sure you would do even better with a better camera.

I would suggest either the Nikon D60 or the Canon Rebel XSI. Both would be excellent choices to get started in the SLR format.

Are those digitals or film? I take too many pictures for a film camera to be affordable.

My bad...I meant SLR...single lens reflex...they are digital cameras, with removeable lenses. Either one would be an awesome first choice.

I always wanted one but was afraid of not knowing how to use it. But my Wife talked me into getting a Canon XTi instead of a powershot S5. Honestly I would totally recommend the XTi or the XT new or used. They are easy to use and quite easy to learn. And if you have photog friends with experience that also helps quite a bit. Don't be afraid to jump out there and get one it will be worth it and it will take time to learn im still learning alot everytime! You could find a Canon XT with an 18-55mm kit lense for a good price.

Sorry probably should explain better lol. Canon XT and XTi= Digital SLR (single lense reflective) cameras. You can remove and change lenses depending on what you do. I only have the kit lense (the lense the camera body came with) and I've been talking alot of my pics with that. They can be pretty expensive but you can usually find them cheap online or used. There is alot to learn with them. When I first got mine I searched digital SLR for beginners and got a great canon site that totally explains everything!
